Root Canals

Root canal treatment can be needed by a tooth for various reasons. The procedure cleans out the pulp chamber and canals of the tooth, then the area is filled with a long lasting material to seal it off. Teeth can become infected (abscessed) if there is decay into the pulp chamber. They can also develop infection if the blood supply to the tooth has been damaged, usually from trauma or repeated traumas. Infected teeth require root canal treatment. Teeth that are broken and the pulp chamber is exposed requires root canal treatment. Also root canals can be recommended if a post is required to salvage a tooth.
